Timothy Truman and John Snyder’s Prowler returned in this 1988 mini-series. The Prowler, a former hero of the Golden Age has grown old, and the costumed villains he used to chase are few and far between. In this adventure, he must chase down a child porn ring with the help of new partner Scott Kida. In the end, the trail takes them to Sweden, where the Prowler learns that the ring’s mastermind has a very familiar face…

Both issues are divided into a present part and a past part. In the present we have the Prowler and his apprentice( Scott) and in the past we have the Prowler and his old cases.

The present:
The first scene is very gruesome. Dead bodies piled up and a boy and a man (the Prowler) standing in the doorway . The boy, Scott Kida, isn't very comfortable with the situation and looks on horrified. Over the scene the speech boxes read like a letter. This was a bit bothersome to read because it's an actual letter with a different font to make it seem handwritten. Albeit you get use to it. It's a letter Scott writes to his aunt and uncle telling them his alright.

 The Prowler gets a visit from old friends, Devils Dogs,  one of their granddaughters been kidnapped en they suspect she's being used for child porn. So the Prowler and Scott investigate.

2.Cat and Mouse in Partnership

A certain cat and a mouse play house. They hid a pot of fat away for the winter. The cat  becomes hungry and lies to the mouse about going to a christening where she is the godmother of the little kitty that's been born. The mouse gives her leave. The cat goes to the pot and licks the top of the fat off. Later the mouse asks her what they  named the kitty. Top-off she answers. This the cat does two more times with the same lie that she's been made grandmother again. The other two kitty's names then are half-done and all gone. When winter comes the mouse sees the pot is empty and understands what's happened . He's vexed at the cat and the cat eats him. verily that is the way of the world  

I like this story and how it ends. It's fun to tell to friends  The ending gets them every time. The last sentence , I guess, gives the moral of the story. A cat and a mouse can't be friends. The strong will always take advantage of the weak or rule over the weak. 

3.Our Lady's Child

Hard by in a great forest a woodcutter and his wife and their only child, a beautiful daughter but they could not care for her so then the Mother Mary comes and offers to take the child and raise her as her own. The child grows up in heaven and one day the Mother leaves on a journey and gives the child the keys to the 13 doors of heaven. She may look through all the doors except the 13Th. But the child breaks her promise and opens the 13th door . When the Mother returns she asks the girl three times if she opened the 13th door. 3 times the girl denied /lied that she did not. So the mother banished her to earth and took her voice. The girl is eventually taken in by a King . Who marries her and makes her his Queen. The Queen then has a son and the Mother comes again and asks her if she opened the door. Again she denies so the Mother takes her son. The people in the kingdom believe she's a man eater when they realize  the son is missing but because the King loved her he protected her. The Queen then had another son and the Mother came again and the Queen denied it again and lost her second son. and again the king protected her. One day the Queen had another child, a daughter. The Mother game again and showed her how happy her two sons were and said if she confesses she could have her two sons and her daughter. The Queen denied and the Mother took her daughter. This time the King could not protect her and she would be burned at the stake and at the stake is where the Queen confessed to opening the 13th door  and the Mother descended from heaven and gave the Queen her children, untied her tongue and gave her happiness for her whole life.

This is my favorite story so far. The lesson is 'he who repents his sin and acknowledges it, is forgiven"

I prefer honesty above anything. The Queen  should have been honest from the start. She had three chances and lied every time then she had more chances and still lied. She couldn't even tell the truth for the sake of her children but did for herself. Being honest isn't easy, it's hard at times but it's better for your own peace of mind.

A Clash of Kings ( a Song of Ice and Fire , book 2) by George R. R. Martin

Against a backdrop of incest and fratricide, alchemy and murder, victory may go to the men and women possessed of the coldest steel...and the coldest hearts. For when kings clash, the whole land trembles. GOODREADS

In the beginning  there's a comet with a red tail in the sky. It can be seen from everywhere. Kingslanding, the  North even in the south where Dainery's is. Everybody interprets this differently.  Stannis sees it as a sign of his victory but so do the Lannisters . This is interesting because it reminds me of omens and their parts in history, how people tried to explain natural events .

It's called a Clash of Kings because after Robert's death , Joffrey became King, A very awful and disgusting King. Either way many aren't happy with Joffrey  being King and are rebelling against Kingslanding. Rob is now known as the king in the north. Stannis Baratheon names himself the rightful king of Westeros, but currently rules over the Narrow Sea and plans to take kingslanding. Renly Baratheon also names himself king, well because he'd make a better King than his brother and he's loved by all. Then there's the vile old man, Balon Greyjoy, King of the Iron Islands. There's your five Kings all fighting for one throne.The only people who will truly suffer in this game they play are the people between he Kings and their armies.  

We get to learn more abut Stannis through a new character Davos,the onion knight. Stannis also has a new adviser , a red priestess of R'hllor  , Milisandre (new character) a lady from the Asshai with a new religion of the light. She uses some kind of dark magic to help Stannis , she predicts his victory and seduces him body and soul, maybe shadow to her religion. Eerie woman and odd. She helps Stannis kill his brother, Renly Baratheon. for the night is dark and full terrors. I think anybody could like Davos. He's a simple man really,loves his wife ans sons and is honest and loyal to his friend and lord, Stannis. But he dies.

Rob's still a young lad leading an army ,being a King. He has a lot of victories and he has the Kingslayer. although he needs more men so he sends Theon Greyjoy to get more men from the Iron Islands, to make an ally out of Balon Greyjoy(Theon's father) and his mother he sends  to Renly. Theon the douchebag betrays Robb and becomes a monster. Lady stark is there when Renly is murdered. She flees with one of Renly's kingsguard, Brienne (new character). 

Theon fails to convince his father to help Robb. Balon is still angry about his failed rebellion and hates the Starks and wants revenge. Lady  stark was right about  Theon, the dude is all wrong. He's arrogant and thinks he's better and he's pathetic. Eventually he gets his father's trust and together they will (try) take the Iron Throne (whatever). but no Theon will disobey his fathers orders and take Winterfell. It's not a completely  stupid plan, Winterfell is poorly guarded and the only Starks there are but little boys. Theon succeeds in taking Winterfell but then it all goes down hill from there. The boys escape, so he murders two other little boys to prove a point (whatever it  was has escaped me). On top of that he gets screwed over by Ramsey Bolton, you gotta give the author kudos for the awesome names. I liked this scene when Bolten arrived and told Theon who he was. It felt conspiracy-like. and I love conspiracies <3.
One thing I will say about the Greyjoys is, this thing about paying the iron price or the gold one. please you lot shut it, you're all thieves!!

Tyrion arrives in Kingslanding with Bron and his own guard of crazy cavemen people. I love this guy. He comes at Kingslanding with one purpose, Justice. Tyrion isn't bad not really. He'd do the right thing just like Eddard would have but he knows how to play the game, he's a pseudo-conformist. At the end of this book he almost dies and  is no longer the  Hand of the King. But he was a great Hand.

Arya's been taken to Harrenhall. Jaqen H'ghar is probably one of my many favorite characters from this book. I love the way he talked. “The Red God has his due, sweet girl, and only death may pay for life. This girl took three that were his. This girl must give three in their places. Speak the names, and a man will do the rest.” Arya tricks Jaqen when she uses her last name. She wants to escape Harrenhall but needs Jaqen to help her. He refuses because she has one name left. Arya then says Jaqen's name instead. So if Jaqen wants Arya to take the name back he must help her escape. This he does. Jaqen leaves and gives Arya a coin and the words 'Valar Morghulis'. Arya's facing a lot of bad and ugly stuff but she's a wolf and a survivor and if George Martin kills her off ,I will be pissd off!!

One of my favorite scenes  from the TV serie  , I found it in the book too: when Tyrion arrives and sees Joffrey punishing Sansa for her brothers "crimes". Page 488-489 . My favorite quote is when Joffrey says "You can't talk to me that way, the King can do as he liikes" I imagine it the way he says it in the show. He sounds more like a spoiled brat (which he is) than a King.

There's also another scene which wasn't in the TVserie neither were the characters: The Reeds , Meera and Jojen, come to Winterfell to swear fealty. The scene of their arrival and when they swear fealty was great and it sucks it wasn't in the TVserie . I love these characters and they help Bran with his dreams.The scene is  on page 328-329

"To Winterfell we pledge the faith of Greywater. Hearth and heart and harvest we yield up to you, my lord. Our swords and spears and arrows are yours to command. Grant mercy to our weak, help to our helpless,and justice to all,and we shall never fail you. I swear it by earth and water. I swear it by bronze and iron. "we swear it by ice and fire".

We leave the characters: after the news of the deaths of her two youngest sons we leave lady Starks in Jaime's cell asking Brienne to give her a sword, Tyrion waking up from his injuries defending the city from Stannis. Sandor has disappeared, Jon  "joins" the wildlings, Bran and Rickon have left Winterfell and go separate ways.

There's a lot going on in this book to love, hate and the scares. It's worth a read, so go on and pick it up.

The Frog-King, or Iron Henry by The Brothers Grimm

A Fairytale Treat

From the complete illustrated fairy tales by the Brothers Grimm

I've read some of Grimm's tales before and  I've bought the book recently. Actually I didn't buy it, my little brother(  the irritating bug) and I bought it so we co-own it. I don't think reviewing the whole book would do the different tales justice so I'll do it separately. It's worth it. We all love or loved fairy tales.

The Frog-King or Iron Henry is where The Princess and The frog is derived from (I think). . I'm basing this solely on the fact that there's a princess and a frog in this story. It's the first story from the book( my edition).

"In old times when wishing still helped one,

The story is written really fairy-tale like(like fairy tales are ) and five pages long and illustrated with one picture of the princess taking the frog up the stairs.

This is the tale of a beautiful Princess, whose more radiant than the sun itself. One day she goes off to play with her golden ball. She drops the ball into a fountain. She cries and wishes she had her ball back. So then the Frog appears and promises the Princess her ball back and in return the Princess will take him, the Frog, to her castle, she will allow him to eat with her and sleep in her bed. The Princess thinking the frog couldn't possibly get her ball back agrees. The frog retrieves her ball and the Princess was so happy she then runs home forgetting the Frog. At dinner with her father, the King, they hear some one knocking at the door.

"Princess! youngest Princess!

"Open the door for me!

"Dost thou not know what thou saidst to me

'"yesterday by the cool waters of the fountain?
"Princess,youngest princess!
"Open the door for me!'

The King hears this and asks the Princess what it's all about. After she explains he tells her to keep her promise to the frog. So she reluctantly gets the frog. She had promised to let the frog eat from her plate. this She  does . she hates this. She had also promised to let the Frog sleep in her bed, so she again reluctantly takes the Frog upstairs to her room. In the Princess and the Frog we know, the Frog turns into a Prince after he's kissed by the Princess. According to Grimm the Frog turns when the Princess throws him against a wall. Preferable and much more amusing. The prince then tells he's tale and then returns to his kingdom. Happily ever after.

It's a really nice tale and different. It's called the Frog-King because well the Frog is the king. Iron Henry is and alternative title. In the story the Prince is brought back to his kingdom by his most faithful servant, Henry. When the Prince was turned into a frog Henry had three iron bars placed around his heart, which broke one by one when the prince turned back in to prince. 

There a lot of use of what I''ll call old English, a lot of doth, saidst, thou etc. I'm guessing the moral of the story is that you should keep your promises .Hope you enjoyed this tale .

Wholeheartedly! straightforwardness is better then any pretentious nonsense. I try to be honest but it's not that easy, neither is being good .

J.R.R Tolkien maybe.

Awesome question because it enables me to rant about a Game of Thrones. 'cuz when you play a Game of Thrones you win or you DIE!

I've read A Game of Thrones and A Clash of Kings and I'm lost to this new epic world. Where you can hear the wolves  howl from  the north and krakens rise from the sea. Oh yeah ,a Song of Ice and Fire bitches!

I only wish George Martin would stop killing people and and and and desperately need to get my hand on a Storm of Swords!!!
